From the Collection: The bulk of these records consists of the correspondence recieved by the first four presidents of the Wisconsin Synod. The following men held the position and were elected pro-tempore:

Johannes Muehlhaeuser December 1849-June 1860

Johannes Bading June 1860-August 1863

Gotlieb Reim September 1863-June 1865

Wilhelm Striessguth June 1865 - June 1867

Johannes Bading June 1867 -June 1889.

The collection also consists of correspondence collected by from various personal collections as noted in Koehler's custodial history.

Koehler's Index: 705. 1863, July 10, sent from St. Paul by Fachtmann to Reim. Fr. H. Hoffmann, Dierdorf, Kr. Neuwied, im Auftrag Reims ordiniert. Wolf mit Familie, zu schwach in Examen, deshalb Lehrer am Crow-river, von Eichler gesandt. Pastor Ebert in Brownsville mit Chrischona in Verbindung. Will einen Chrischonaer nach Eldorado senden. In Fond du Lac noch nicht alles zufrieden mit Kern. Vielleicht lieber Giese dahin.

(Fr. H. Hoffmann, Dierdorf, district of Neuwied, ordained on behalf of Reims. Wolf with family, too weak in exams, therefore teacher at the Crow River, sent by Eichler. Pastor Ebert in Brownsville in touch with Chrischona. Wants to send a Chrischonaer to Eldorado. In Fond du Lac not everyone is happy with Kern. Perhaps Giese would rather go there.)
