From the Collection: The bulk of these records consists of the correspondence recieved by the first four presidents of the Wisconsin Synod. The following men held the position and were elected pro-tempore:

Johannes Muehlhaeuser December 1849-June 1860

Johannes Bading June 1860-August 1863

Gotlieb Reim September 1863-June 1865

Wilhelm Striessguth June 1865 - June 1867

Johannes Bading June 1867 -June 1889.

The collection also consists of correspondence collected by from various personal collections as noted in Koehler's custodial history.

Koehler's Index: 1108. 1865, March 2, sent from Princeton by Kern to Reim. Es geht um die Gemeinde in Mecan. 68 Familien gehören zu Fernecke. Die Trustees (Miss.) haben d. Deed umänder lassen. Strieter sagt von der Wisconsin Synode, dass sie zwinglisch von Abendmahl lehre. Reim soll kommen und Fernecke einführen. Strieter geht jetzt doch weg.

(It's about the community in Mecan. 68 families belong to Fernecke. The Trustees (Miss.) have d. Have the Deed changed. Strieter says of the Wisconsin Synod that it teaches in a Zwinglish way about the Lord's Supper. Reim should come and introduce Fernecke. Strieter is leaving now.)
