Scope and Contents

This series consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings and other documents dealing with the Wisconsin Synod’s tenuous relationship with LC-MS immediately before, during and after the 1961 split in fellowship. These documents reflect the attitudes and controversy that came to bear as the Wisconsin Synod considered and finally broke fellowship ties with LC-MS. This series includes documents from presidents’ meetings, individual meetings between Naumann and Oliver Harms, and discussions on the state of the church. Subseries 1 contains correspondence dealing with LC-MS/WELS relations to and from Naumann from various LC-MS and WELS correspondents, including: Christopher Albrecht
