From the Collection: The bulk of these records consists of the correspondence recieved by the first four presidents of the Wisconsin Synod. The following men held the position and were elected pro-tempore:

Johannes Muehlhaeuser December 1849-June 1860

Johannes Bading June 1860-August 1863

Gotlieb Reim September 1863-June 1865

Wilhelm Striessguth June 1865 - June 1867

Johannes Bading June 1867 -June 1889.

The collection also consists of correspondence collected by from various personal collections as noted in Koehler's custodial history.

Langenberger und Berlin Verein senden jährlich $100.00 für Reisepredigt und geben genaue Instruktionen dafür. Wollen auch für das event. Seminar Studenten senden, aber ohne Reisekosten. Pläne über Verbindung einer nordamerikanischen Pastoralhilfsgesellschaft in Verbindung mit den deutschen Vereinen im Werden. Amerikanisches und österreich-italienisches Krieg. Dammann glücklicher Bräutigam, vielleicht durch Muehlhaeuser?

(Lessing is not coming. Moldehnke is coming in September. Efficient man. Langenberger and Berlin Verein send $100.00 annually for travel preaching and give detailed instructions for it. Also want for the event. Send seminar students, but without travel expenses. Plans for connection of a North American pastoral aid society in connection with the German associations in development. American and Austro-Italian War. Dammann happy bridegroom, perhaps by Muehlhaeuser?)
