Scope and Contents

This series consists of records relating to Christ the King Lutheran Church of Nigeria (CKLCN), a church body in fellowship with the WELS to whom the CME ministered. The following materials are grouped in this series: 1) Correspondence between World Mission Counselor John Kurth, the pastors and presidents of CKLCN, and the CME. This correspondence is arranged in chronological order. 2) Records provided by Missionaries Larry Schlomer and Professor Harold Johne, who both served temporary calls as professors at the seminary of the CKLCN. Missionary Schlomer served in Nigeria from 1990-1993, while Professor Johne served from 1992-1993. Professor Johne’s time as chairman of the CME ended when he accepted this temporary call to Nigeria. 3) Call documents for Professor Roger Sprain, who received two different calls to Nigeria in 1991, and for Professor Johne, who accepted his call in 1992. 4) A small collection of research materials on Nigeria.
