Koehler's Index: 568. 1861, December 2, sent from Oaklandtown, Fort Atkinson, by Moldehnke to Bading. Reisebericht: Von Watertown nach Waupun, Berlin, Almond, Plover, Stevens Point, Wausau, Stettin, zurück bis Waupun, Atwater, Portage City, Lewiston, Kilbourn City, Watertown. Viele Deutsche. Ebenso in Berlin unfreundliche Altlutheraner. In Portage ist der Iowaer Rohrlack zu Ende. Die Leuten wollen von Wisconsin bedient sein. Man muss regelmässig herumkommen. Daher die feste Gemeinde für den Reiseprediger kaum das Richtige.

(Travel Report: From Watertown to Waupun, Berlin, Almond, Plover, Stevens Point, Wausau, Stettin, back to Waupun, Atwater, Portage City, Lewiston, Kilbourn City, Watertown. Many Germans. Especially in Wausau and Portage. Close to Wausau Missouri. A young man 21 years under Strieter's leadership, with 30 nations, challenging and bossy. Likewise Strieter in Princeton, street brawl. Likewise in Berlin unfriendly old Lutherans. In Portage the Iowaer Rohrlack is over. People want to be served by Wisconsin. You have to come around regularly. Therefore, the permanent congregation is hardly the right one for the traveling preacher.)
