From the Collection: The bulk of these records consists of the correspondence recieved by the first four presidents of the Wisconsin Synod. The following men held the position and were elected pro-tempore:

Johannes Bading June 1860-August 1863

Gotlieb Reim September 1863-June 1865

Wilhelm Striessguth June 1865 - June 1867

Johannes Bading June 1867 -June 1889.

Koehler's Index: 577. 1862, January 16, sent from Platteville by Starck by Bading. Klagt über Gemeinde, aus der er erst etwas gemacht hat. Emphielt Röll nicht, weil der Galena hat sitzen lassen und zu viel braucht. Berechnung seiner Leistung gegen Gemeindeleitung.

(Complains about community, of which he made something in the first place. Didn't recommend Röll because Galena let him down and needed too much. Calculation of his performance against community leadership.)
